Denver Food Trip: Our Culinary Journey Through the Mile High City

Savoring Love and Flavor in Denver

Food and love—two things that have a way of bringing people closer. When Jerry and I took our first recreational trip together to Denver, Colorado, we didn’t just set out to explore a new city—we set out to reconnect and create something lasting. If you haven’t read about the heart behind our getaway yet, check out the full story here: Rekindling Love and Adventure: Our First Recreational Trip Together to Denver, Colorado

While that post dives into the why, this one’s all about the yum. Here’s how Denver stole our hearts—and our tastebuds.

Moonlight Diner: A Nostalgic Breakfast Kickoff

ree

We kicked things off at Moonlight Diner, a retro spot where the service was as warm as the coffee. I had the Huevos Rancheros—perfectly spiced and hearty. Jerry went with the Breakfast Colorado and added a pancake on the side. That pancake? Sweet, fluffy, and syrup was completely optional. It was the kind of breakfast that fills your belly and your soul.

Tao Boba: Yogurt, But Make It Life-Changing

A Minneapolis, Minnesota couple enjoying yogurt boba drinks from Tao Boba in Denver, Colorado — capturing a moment of travel, connection, and local flavor at one of Denver’s popular bubble tea spots."

The Tao Boba Tea House deserves its own fan club. We each got their daily house-made drinkable yogurts—Jerry's was strawberry with 25% sweetener, mine was peach with none at all. I wasn’t expecting to love drinkable yogurt, but wow. It was smooth, fresh, and needed nothing extra. Hands down one of the most refreshing surprises of the trip.

Stanley Hotel: A Burger with a Side of History

We took a scenic drive to the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park (yes, that Stanley—the one from The Shining). The food? Classic. I had a crisp, fresh chicken salad while Jerry went full-on Americana with a simple cheeseburger that had that perfect grilled flavor. It was casual, flavorful, and just what we needed before exploring the historic grounds.

Colorado Cherry Company: Nostalgia in a Cone

After dinner, we stopped into the Colorado Cherry Company-in the basement of the Stanley Hotel-and grabbed some ice cream. I picked chocolate, and it tasted exactly like a melted fudgsicle in the best way—smooth and rich. Jerry went for Bing Cherry, and it was everything cherry ice cream should be. Simple, sweet, unforgettable.

Sprouts Market Staples: Fuel for Late-Night Chats

We swung by Sprouts for snacks to keep in the hotel—Skyr yogurt, brie cheese bites, and kombucha sodas. Just enough to keep us fueled between meals and during those late-night “stay-up-talking-too-long” moments that rekindled so much.

Corinne Denver: Brunch Goals, Achieved

Delicious smoked salmon eggs Benedict at Corinne Denver, enjoyed by a couple from Minneapolis, Minnesota during a cozy brunch outing in downtown Denver.

Corinne Denver was a total standout. Jerry had the Croque Madame with ham, gruyère, and mornay sauce, topped with a sunny fried egg. I ordered the Sweet Corn Cake Eggs Benedict with tomato and avocado salsa, and added smoked salmon because—why not? We sipped on a Ginger Sunrise and a Melon Berry Cooler. The vibe was upscale but welcoming, and the food? Worth every forkful.

Sahara Mediterranean: Flavors That Transported Us

Delicious house-made baklava from Sahara Restaurant in Denver, Colorado, enjoyed by a Minneapolis, Minnesota couple savoring Middle Eastern desserts during their culinary tour of the Mile High City.

Dinner at Sahara Mediterranean was like a flavor passport to another world. We shared Sanbousak (think crispy, savory pastries) to start, then I had lamb with pine nuts while Jerry went for grilled salmon. But dessert was the showstopper: pistachio baklava and a bonus walnut version from our generous server. We’ve had a lot of baklava over the years—this was next level. Above and beyond, this place made it a full-on Denver Food Trip.

Revival Denver: Soul Food with a Creative Twist

A flavorful plate of loaded poutine from Revival Denver, enjoyed by a Minneapolis, Minnesota couple exploring top comfort food spots in Colorado — a delicious fusion of Southern and Midwestern culinary cravings.

We wrapped our culinary tour at Revival Denver Public House, and the Southern influence was strong in all the right ways. We split the Churrasco Poutine—skirt steak, chimichurri, cheese curds, blackened fries—and tried both the Fried Catfish Sandwich and the Catfish and Grits. Everything was crispy, creamy, spicy, and comforting all at once. Exactly what we didn't know we needed.

A Denver Food Trip We'll Never Forget

Denver was more than a destination. It became the backdrop for laughter, reconnection, and so many good bites. From morning coffee at the diner to late-night Mediterranean desserts, every meal helped us pause, breathe, and truly be present with each other.

If you’re craving a food-filled, heart-centered getaway, let our story be your sign.
