Meet KitCat: Our New Tabby Cat Has Officially Taken Over the House

We didn’t go looking for a cat. In fact, adopting one wasn’t even on our radar—until we stepped foot into CatZen Coffee in Saint Paul. That cozy, magical little spot completely charmed us. Picture this: a warm latte in hand, the scent of baked goods in the air, and a dozen friendly felines lounging around like royalty. It was impossible not to fall in love.

That’s where the seed was planted. A few weeks later, KitCat came home.

Our Tabby Cat with a Big Personality

KitCat isn’t just any tabby cat—she’s got a whole vibe of her own. She’s affectionate, ridiculously cuddly, and extremely talkative (especially when she wants to snuggle). She’ll perch up high like she’s surveying her kingdom, then leap down just to curl up right in the middle of whatever the boys are doing. She’s dog-like in all the best ways—loyal, playful, and always following someone around the house.

She’s made herself a full-blown member of the family within days. And honestly? We’re all obsessed.

Little Habits, Big Joys

We’ve learned quickly that KitCat has a flair for drama and sneak attacks. If there’s a blanket involved, it’s game on. Any limb hiding underneath immediately becomes her target. The boys find it hilarious, and I’ll admit, watching her pounce like a tiny jungle predator never gets old. But once the wild phase passes, she’ll snuggle up under those same blankets and nap like she pays rent here.

It’s those little quirks that make her feel like she’s always been part of our world.

A Lesson in Slowing Down

One thing I didn’t expect when we adopted her from The Bond Between, a local foster-based rescue, was how she’d shift the energy in our home. She’s teaching us all—especially the boys—how to be gentle, how to respect space, and how to pay closer attention. She demands presence in the best way. Whether it’s stopping to give her a quick scratch behind the ears or laughing at the way she climbs the back of the couch like it’s a jungle gym, she pulls us out of our heads and into the moment.

Life already moves fast with our boys and our business, so having a reason to slow down and just be has been really refreshing.

Home Feels Even More Like Home Now

There’s something really special about the energy pets bring into a space. KitCat’s added a level of joy and unpredictability that keeps things fun and playful. And let’s be honest—she’s also the queen of comfort. No one lounges like she does, and somehow watching her nap makes me want to take a break too.

We didn’t plan for her. But now that she’s here, we couldn’t imagine the house without her.
